Love takes courage. And education, respect, respecting boundaries, self examination, being truthful with yourself, listening to understand, admitting when you’re wrong, taking action, taking a back seat, offering support be it time or dollars, awareness, being vocal, standing up, speaking out, creating opportunities, questioning long held and deeply engrained beliefs, saying I’m sorry, doing the work to understand your way may not be the best way, and always committing to be better than you were the days before.
It’s been a gift to live alone, and to reimagine my life and let it play out in my physical space, which is an easy extension of my inner self.
Last night I had the honor and privilege of helping to bring eleven poets to the open ears and open hearts of the @bay_path community. I listened to poets spill their truth, some of these voices seasoned with experience, others braving the virtual stage for the first time to share their words.
Trying my damndest to be this rose and open up to my fullest. I didn’t know roses could open this wide, and I’m willing to bet I’ve been selling myself short all along, too.
It’s a good day to say I love you to those you love. But then again, so is every day.
When your birthday says you’re 38 today and firmly in the millennial camp, but your middle part politely disagrees.
